Why hire working learners?
Each year, thousands of students choose to work on campus while taking classes at VCU – we call these individuals “working learners.” By serving as a supervisor of a working learner, you have the ability to truly make a direct and positive impact on a student’s college experience. You can also provide mentorship that will allow them to be an excellent colleague and professional in their future chosen field.
Here are just a few testimonials from VCU students about the impacts of their on-campus supervisors:
-
“I have learned a lot and have been provided with honest and constructive feedback that I can apply in every aspect of my education and career, not just in my leadership position.”
-
“I LOVE my supervisor! All the supervisors I have had [at VCU] are GREAT! It has been such a good opportunity for me to grow professionally!”
-
“My relationship with my supervisor is one that I admire. I feel as though my supervisor is open to understanding and having a work relationship with me and those on my staff. I can relate and openly speak to my supervisor more than the other supervisors I have worked with in my short time. I really appreciate that [they are expressive] about being excited for me and my accomplishments.”
